THE CAUSE of global enlightenment is the cause of all humankind.
N THESE trying times of climate change and pandemics with war in Europe and uprisings in the USA, freedom is in peril. Authoritarian nations now outnumber the democracies. Hope lives in outgrowing our need for kings while learning to live mindfully and responsibly free.
Making Global Sense shows why more than a billion of us on earth, often unwittingly, are now building the “global sense movement.” Acting from an awareness of our natural oneness or connectivity, acting alone and together, we are generating a cultural and social wave for humanity to mature and repair the world we’ve created.
Award-winning author and journalist Judah Freed weaves a tale of inspiration from Thomas Paine and his 1776 essay, Common Sense. He revives ideas and ideals from the 18th century Enlightenment to champion our 21st century enlightenment. Where Paine urged independence and revolution, Freed invites interdependence and evolution — now.
Where Paine invited violent revolution, Freed invites peaceful evolution. Where Paine refuted monarchy and hereditary succession, Freed refutes alpha male rule and authority addiction, hidden from our minds with split perceptions, which is how we treat opinions as facts or think lies are true. Freed like Paine advocates critical thinking and reason.
Where Paine proposed a war for independence and the first modern republic. Freed proposes peaceful inner mindful self rule and outer personal democracy, so we mature into direct republics one day.
Changing how we make sense of life and the world changes our lives and the world. A global sensibility equalizes and liberates all races and genders and ages and abilities for ample prosperity and lively democracy. “New men,” for instance, let go of trying to rule the world and instead learn to rule themselves. People of all sorts and natures can thrive when their lives make global sense.
Balancing head and heart, around the essays are woven memoir sections where the author tells the story behind his insights. Youthful faith in a cult, for example, led him to grasp why and how we give away our power to leaders. The story of his later cancer survival journey offers hope for anyone.
Globally awake readers will feel they are not alone, nor powerless, especially when we unite for nonviolent actions together. Those still asleep to our oneness may now safely open their eyes.
